BIOL 2385 Ethnobotany

Semester Credit Hours: (3) sch

This is an interdisciplinary field that studies the relationship between humans and plants.  The course will examine the long interdependence of humans on plants, the ways humans use plants for survival (food and material culture), the domestication of plants and it influence on the development of civilization, plants as medicines, how plants are used for rituals and symbolism, how they are classified and how plant assemblages are related to culture and habitat.
